The Federal Protective Service Officers National Unions are affiliated with the International Union, SPFPA-PBA The history of IUSPFPA-PBA spans over 70 years and has maintained the rating of the number one Security Police Union for all those years. We have the experience and financial strength that's required to protect contract Officers working for the FPS.  

The Federal Protective Service (FPS) is a federal law enforcement agency, and employs approximately 900 law enforcement officers. FPS provides integrated law enforcement and security services to U.S. Federal buildings, courthouses, and other properties administered by the General Services Administration (GSA) and the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS).

To support that mission, FPS contracts with private security firms to provide 15,000 contract Armed Protective Security Officers (PSO) providing access control and security response within federal buildings. These PSOs are not federal law enforcement but private security employees trained by FPS. FPS also protects other properties as authorized and carries out various other activities for the promotion of homeland security as the Secretary of Homeland Security may prescribe, to include providing a uniformed police response to National Security Special Events, and national disasters.

The FPS (Federal Protective Service) was formerly a part of the Immigration and Customs Enforcement until October 2009, when it was transferred to the National Protection and Programs Directorate.

FPS Responsibilities

  • Conducting comprehensive security assessment of vulnerabilities at facilities

  • Developing and implementing protective countermeasures, based on the latest risk management tools and technology

  • Installing alarm systems, x-ray and magnetometer equipment, and entry control systems

  • Monitoring systems at federal facilities for proper performance and security breaches

  • Providing uniformed police response and investigative follow-up

  • Contracting for security guard services

  • Performing hazardous materials preparedness and response operations

  • Managing K9 explosive detection operations

  • Providing critical security services and logistical support at high-profile public events

  • Coordinating vital emergency services and disaster response during and after natural disasters

  • Engaging federal facility tenants through crime prevention seminars, facility security surveys, intelligence-gathering operations and more.

The primary goal of the Federal Protective Service Officers National Union is to enhance the quality of life for Federal Protective Service Officers, Federal Contract Guards & Protective Security Officers PSO's throughout the United States through skillful contract negotiation with your agency / management in order to secure fair living wages, realistic healthcare benefits and reasonable paid vacation & sick leave and to aggressively protect our members from unwarranted harassment, unjustified discipline and any form of unfavorable treatment. Affiliated with IUSPFPA-PBA the FPSONU has all the necessary tools to complete our mission.

UNION ORGANIZING

 

We help assist you in forming a  union under FPSONU whether your a Federal Protective Service Officer under the jurisdiction of a Federal Contract Guard or Protective Security Officer PSO under the jurisdiction of the National labor Relations Board NLRB. 

 

This includes running your campaign, filing your petition, communicating with the NLRB in preparation of signing an election agreement and achieving victory through a secret ballot election.

 

Union Rights of Private Employees under the NLRB Section 7 of the National Labor Relations Act (the Act) guarantees employees "the right to self-organization, to form, join, or assist labor organizations, to bargain collectively through representatives of their own choosing, and to engage in other concerted activities for the purpose of collective bargaining. Negotiating union contracts is a skill that takes many years of experience to learn. Our experience team of negotiators have negotiated hundreds of contracts. We know how to identify goals and develop a bargaining strategy to achieve those goals and reach our objectives.

DISPUTE RESOLUTION

Once we negotiate your CBA we help assist your local executive board in ensuring your Employer does not violate your new collective bargaining agreement (CBA). 

LITIGATION

 

Our Union is a full service Labor organization that handles all types of litigation from filing unfair labor charges on your behalf with the NLRB to arbitration's to Department of Labor filings.

TRAINING
